Overview

From Technology Consumers to Product Makers

Preface empowers creation and transforms students from  novice to digital-ready  by teaching programming fundamentals and logic in the computation thinking spectrum. In the course, students will apply the core concepts to build simple, functional and interactive web programs or mobile apps by themselves and adapt to the introductory workflow of how programming works.

Pair Programming on Community Solutions

Besides technical knowledge, our students are granted access to community involvement -  Nomad Hackathon . Coding isn’t merely mastering the development techniques or logical deduction skills, but a process of value creation through validating ideas and proposing solutions for products in the community through collaborations with other Coders, which is extremely important in today’s digital environment.

Preface Nomad Coding courses are designed to spark interests in computer programming by allowing users to build their own software applications or games through a range of educational applications designed by Google and MIT.

Our courses and instructors are verified and trained by MIT Master Trainers to bring you the best knowledge.

A Look into our Curriculum

Explore and learn how objects come to life on digital devices with symbol-only, drag-and-drop coding blocks. This course teaches fundamental programming principles essential to create mini games and interactive stories on iPad / Tablet; while letting kid’s experience with simple numbers and English words in the creation process.

*All programming tools used in this course is developed by MIT Media Lab (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Introducing Brand New Concepts :

  • Discover how and why objects move and react to user in a digital setting
  • Start to code with physical symbol blocks, and replicate it on iPads/ Tablets
  • Learn to order small task in a step-by-step approach with the right sequence
  • Learn how to draw, design and control their characters’ basic movements, giving them the ability to move, jump and dance, strengthening numeracy and literacy capabilities
  • Design and modify characters in the paint editor and add their own voices and sounds

You'll code digital stories resembling mini cartoons and interactive games like Racing Game, and more.

Discover what it takes to build interactive web-based programs like animations, interactive stories and games that users can interact with. You’ll get familiar with key computer science concepts and learn to reason systematically through playful experimentation with designing and creating digital products using drag-and-drop coding blocks.

*All programming tools used in this course is developed collaboratively by Google and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Introducing Brand New Concepts :

  • Step up on coding with graphical programming platform with front-end visual design skills and back-end coding logics
  • Get exposed to problem-solving and logic reasoning skills by learning to decompose complex programs into bite-sized tasks
  • Dive into programming concepts applicable to creating visual effects (e.g. control flow with transitions, loops and iterators, etc.)
  • Incorporate simple calculus concepts into projects (e.g. position with numbers, addition and subtraction, etc.)

Projects :

Work individually to build fully functional games that resembles Flappy Bird and short animated clips (music videos) with any cartoon characters that’s shareable to your friends on the Web.

Learn to build Mobile Application on your smartphone or tablets with visual programming, and apply core programming concepts to create Games and Utility Apps. During the course, you’ll gain hands-on experience in executing the real world workflow and expand your knowledge of app development environment.

*All programming tools used in this course is developed collaboratively by Google and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Introducing Brand New Concepts :

  • Get an introduction to product design and planning to create product prototypes
  • Explore data structures, and how they can be accessed with the CRUD methodology
  • Adopt to think and solve problems algorithmically and break an App into smaller parts
  • Level up and apply logic structures and core programming concepts to your projects (e.g. sequencing, events, variables, conditionals, etc.)
  • Gain an introduction to how programming works and basic technical app development workflow: design, code and deploy

Projects :

Program simplified arcade games like Air Hockey, Memory Pair Games or utility software (and more) and deploy it to a mobile device.

This introductory module gets you prepared to code in a professional developers environment by teaching basic programming concepts and leveraging on the programming language that codes  AirBnB . No matter what your passion is - Game Developer or E-commerce Engineer - this course is designed to teach you all the skills needed to build any great tech products.

*Key programming languages/ frameworks taught in the  full program  : Ruby, Rails, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, AJAX

Introducing Brand New Concepts :

  • Get acquainted with common developer tools like command line, text editor, GitHub, etc.
  • Learn to navigate a computer file structure, configure development environment via UNIX/ Linux command line
  • Solidify knowledge on basic terminal commands and core concepts of programming
  • Start writing algorithms to solve computational problems, control variables, loops, conditions and data structures like array and hash
  • Gain an introduction to the working knowledge and technical workflow of how a modern web app like AirBnB is built and powered

Projects :

Code Black Jack Game, understand how Mark 6 works, and more by applying key programming concepts using variables, iterators and methods.
